With pieces from the 1970s and stories, this collection of feature stories and vignettes from Australian racing spans a quarter of a century.
Les Carlyon, author of the critically acclaimed and bestselling GALLIPOLI, was born in northern Victoria in 1942 into a family steeped in horses and racing. He has been editor of the Melbourne Age and editor-in-chief of the Herald and Weekly Times group. He has won the Walkley Award, the Graham Perkin Australian Journalist of the Year Award and the Carlton and United Best Australian Sports Writing Award (three times). He still rides occasionally, but only when no one is looking.
