An encyclopaedic collection of some 3,200 designs and patterns from all ages and cultures is presented here. It contains designs and patterns composed of animal, plant and human motifs found on clothing, chinaware, wall surfaces, buildings, weaponry and other art and craft works. The publication is organised in such a way to enable a general theme of the origins and transitions of designs and patterns, while the details of line drawings have been faithfully reproduced.
