The journey cost him his sanity, and, ultimately, his life - but it left us with a legacy of such brilliance that, even today, it remains central to our understanding of the world. Lucy Jago was awarded a double first from Cambridge University and an MA from the Courtauld Institute in the History of Art. From there she went on to make history, arts and social documentaries for the BBC and Channel 4 and wrote articles for various publications. She stumbled upon the story of Kristian Birkeland while filming in the Arctic Circle. She lives in Dorset and is currently working on her second book. Paperback (B-Format)
